A slice of soulful garage house from ’94 NY, released on Cutting Records and then Polygram/ffrr in the UK. This record features one of my favourite vocals, courtesy of the consummate Arnold Jarvis. Swing 52, comprised of Benji Candelario and Wayne Rollins, produced a small but impressive catalogue of records during the 90’s on Cutting Records and sister label Cutting Traxx, however it was ‘Color Of My Skin’ that launched their records onto dance-floors internationally.
Vision Radio – the badmans, first introduced me to ‘Color Of My Skin’ via Disturbed Disco‘s depiction of the original. This lead me to the B-side ‘Swing Remix’, which has to be my favourite version although closely contested by the gritty and bellowing ‘Swing To The 2nd Color’ mix. You can’t go wrong listening to a bit of Arnold Jarvis, he always goes down smooth.
